Phantom Ranch & Bright Angel Campground

Duffel Service - Phantom Ranch
If you realized too late that you overpacked, you might have luck with the duffel service.  For $100 we had 50 pounds carried out on a mule for us.  Service is subject to availability, but you can inquire at the snack bar in Phantom Ranch.

 

 

Phantom Ranch & Bright Angel Campground
Most hikers leave the Rim early in the morning to arrive at Bright Angel Campground or Phantom Ranch before the heat of the day sets in.  The downhill hike can usually be done in about 4 hours.  Then you get to sit in the oven all day long, hoping it gets cool enough to sleep.
